Frequently Asked Questions

  • How long will a session typically last?     The length of a session depends on the type of session. A mini-session, typically reserved for 1-2 people, or a maternity session will last approximately 30-45 minutes. A standard session, which is up to 5 people ($25 for each additional person), lasts anywhere between 1-2 hours. And finally, a precious newborn session is traditionally 3 hours, which seems like forever, I know, but oftentimes we actually go over the allotted time to be sure mom and baby are comfortable and happy.
  • Where will our session take place?     While I have a few favorites gems where I love to stage my sessions, I am always open to new locations. I work throughout the NOVA area, with a travel fee of $25 for any location over 20 miles from my home in Herndon, VA. Have a favorite vineyard out in Loudoun? Let’s go! Want your family session in Old Town Alexandria? Love it. Want to head into D.C. to see the cherry blossoms? I’m in. Many places require reservations or special permits, which we can discuss where appropriate. As a lifestyle photographer, I am also completely open to working in and around your home to capture your beautiful everyday surroundings. Newborn sessions are in your home in order to be sure the sessions is free from worry and easy for the new little one.
  • What on earth should I wear for the session?     This is a tough one, but try not to over-think it. Try to stay away from especially busy or bright patterns, as they could distract from the lovely faces in the photo. I like to employ a rule of 2+1. The rule is simple, choose two complimenting colors (think navy and grey) and one pop of color (think accessory or baby’s outfit). This rule translates beautifully in photos. • Can I purchase digital files from the session to print on my own? What about prints?     The simple answer to this question is of course! I have several options, including purchasing a CD of your entire session, available. You can then print them anywhere you’d like, but I only guarantee color quality through my own printing staff. There is definitely a difference between my printer and the one at Costco or even popular on-line vendors. That being said, both are definitely viable options, and I am here to help you through the ordering process. I offer a basic photo package that starts at $150 and gets you a ton of prints.
